OOps

In eagerness to create some new lenses I used the gift wizard which suggests topic. I saw Knit Christmas sweaters and thought" Knit TYPE sweaters" OOpsy...should have paid more attention because I made the entire lens and then realized "I bet it was about the knitting of sweaters" You know, the crafty type of knit. As in a verb. I'm think of selling this lens or gifting or something like that ( which I never have before). My mistake. See it here: Knit Christmas Sweaters

Bottom Five September

I am not sure why, but the Bellydance at the Movies doesn't want to respond to any efforts to make it gain traction. It wasn't my best effort, but I didn't think it would prove so unpopular. One thing that I hope will help is by implementing a new Squid trick: using tags the way the famous fluffarnutta advises. It was an old post, but I'm hoping that revising all my tags will benefit the lenses and increase their traffic. Too soon to tell. On to enumerating the Bottom five as of this date:
  1. Find Something Good To Eat
  2. Family Pleasing Holiday Recipes
  3. Moroccan Argan Oil
  4. Grandma Moses Holiday
  5. My Personal Squid Journey
I'm sort of disappointed that the Squid Journey dropped so low because it has helpful info in it. I made the primary tags on the Lensographies to be that word , Lensography, so I hope it helps their ranking through more people finding them. Will report here on how this stacks up in the upcoming weeks.

Dumb Mistake #2

Eventually I might get to #1001, but for now it is my second in line of biggest mistakes.

The Big Mistake

In the Squidoo text module you get 10,000 characters. That seems like more than enough, and usually it is, but in my LOTD lens, which I was eager to improve, I had filled it with information about Ohio gardens. I didn't keep sight of the fact that I was at or near the 10,000 mark on that module.

Already having started a second module for more garden entries, I had the great idea that I should include official site links for each park, in case people needed more information on a park they wanted to visit. That was a good idea, but what wasn't so good (the 2nd mistake) is that as I added more at the top of the module.. you guessed it.... the bottom of the module was losing information. I had lost one whole entry on the Cleveland Cultural garden!

How Did I Fix This?

Well, I had lost important pages before... sometimes my fault and sometimes because of glitches on the free servers (Oh yes, I remember "crosswinds.net" with this happening more than once). The way I found you could recover lost work, if you got to it in time, was in Google's cache. And that is how I recovered the lost information from my lens, since I had probably lost it in the 24 hours previously to discovering my mistake.

Thank you, Google. I copy and pasted my lost information into the newer module (which to the viewer is seamless addition to the first one). Most lenses do not have a long string of entries, but this one happens to be a whole state worth of good gardens to visit.
